Harps by Blevins
The Blevins nylon-strung folk harps are well made and have a good sound; they also have excellent string spacing and tension. They fall into the medium-priced category and are a good buy, especially for students or adults looking for a good instrument.
Blevins likes working with different kinds of woods; his harps are generally in cherry, walnut and maple, although other woods such as ash, alder or mahogany are available at times. Prices on his harps can vary somewhat depending on the wood and soundboard materials on any given harp.
The prices quoted below are approximate, depending on the wood or other factors in an individual harp, and include full Loveland levers. (Blevins will put other levers on these harps by special order.) Sometimes the padded carrying case is included in the price and sometimes not.
Dwight Blevins lives and produces his harps in Colorado.

The
Ariel.
Blevins has redesigned his original Ariel model slightly, especially at the front
top of the pillar.
38 strings A up to C (five plus octaves), 53" high, weight about 25 lb, depending on the wood. Measurement of front to back (depth) is about 29"; bottom of soundboard is 11 1/4" wide.
The soundboard is made of birch ply for strength and sound.
The harp shown at left in both views is a cherry Ariel, with a dark stripe through the entire harmonic curve and front pillar; this stripe is from a walnut layer that Blevins put into this harp for esthetic appeal. These Ariel models all have three layers for extra strength, but sometimes the center layer is made of the same wood as the rest of the harp. If ordering one of these, this can be discussed.
