The lowest note is F above middle C, and the highest note is the C that is 2 1/2 octaves higher. 23" long overall, rosewood body with mahogany soundboard. Made in Pakistan. With rosewood bow and tuning key as shown. $160   Note: the psaltery that we currently have has a cutout rosette on the soundboard. The heart as shown is no longer available.

Psaltery Bows and Resin

We offer extra bows in the two styles shown below. Some players use two bows at the same time. Like a violin bow, these need to be well resined to make any sound.

Plucked Psaltery

ap626081.jpg (13056 bytes)PS7. This is a historical reproduction instrument designed by the Early Music Shoppe. Trapezoidal in shape with curved sides, it is sometimes called a "pigsnout." It has 22 steel strings tuned from low C to high C. Rosewood body, spruce soundboard, brass bridges. Historic illustrations show the player holding it with the narrow end pointed downwards, or resting on the lap; it can be plucked with the fingers, a quill or a plectrum. Included is a tuning tool and quilted nylon case with shoulder carrying strap. $140
